Indisputably safety and functionality are the first requirements that an internal stair must possess, but immediately after the design should be directed to a general harmony of the interior, aesthetics and space. A modern internal staircase can enjoy these privileges, but choosing is not easy! Staircases ideas and stair railing ideas available on the market but also customizable ad hoc are really many!

Classic, rustic or traditional wooden internal stairs ideas with a simple solution or floating stairs, modern natural stone stairs, innovative glass stairs for interior with glass balustrades, iron staircase designs in other metals such as steel, aluminium or cast iron staircase designs are all possibilities (a concrete staircase, curved staircase or a straight staircase is also a modern option)

In this article I’m talking about the latter, modern iron internal staircases ideas. In particular we will evaluate together three examples of stairs for interiors made of iron but very different from each other: installations with completely dissimilar aesthetic results and with different structural characteristics.

Different structures for modern iron internal stairs and interior stairs in general

In accordance with a modern style, iron has many characteristics that make it an optimal material for stairs and for a railing staircase idea, resistant and highly performing, ideal to guarantee stability. Example 1: iron internal spiral staircase

Among the preferred staircase design types, and especially among the contemporary staircase types modern internal stairs, in addition to traditional wooden stairs that never go out of fashion, we have metal spiral stairs. Between iron internal steps ideas, a contemporary staircase with a spiral movement not only fulfills its function with a considerable saving of space, but can have a very powerful aesthetic impact although adaptable to many different styles.       

Example 2: Custom stair in iron with marble coating, among best materials

Among the internal stair design ideas, probably open structures are those, as well as larger dimensions, more customizable in absolute. A staircase idea for interior with a visible structure can have different developments both as a footprint and as a real anatomic form. You could find the usual internal concrete staircase types, the same ones that might be good for outdoor living, maybe with covered steps, internal natural stone staircases ideas or even internal stairs in wood and stone, our internal contemporary staircase installations in iron and many other variants, with completely different structures and details.

This installation is structured in a mixed manner, U-shaped and with a double helical structure; a 10 mm thick blind railing and sliding blind understairs were designed. 

On the metal base, the steps with closed riser have been clad in elegant and refined Calacatta marble, while the original closed railing staircase idea has undergone an architectural bronze treatment with cloud effect.  As you can see, it may not be the iron staircase that you expect, since coatings, finishes and color choices have made the difference, compared to the previous stair. Yet the structure is of an iron staircase.      

Example 3: Modern internal open staircase made entirely of iron

If you are a lover of the visual and material effect of iron on the interior design , you will appreciate the following staircase idea, so different from that just seen. In this case the final result is really dissimilar from, for example, what can give concrete internal stairs or wooden staircases ideas for interior, as much as coatings and colors can mix the cards.

If an internal wooden stair almost certainly makes a living space enjoy a certain warmth and a sense of welcome, iron staircases ideas have nothing to envy as a sense of design. Stair design will work best with stair railing and other factors that may affect the final result

I showed you three iron staircases ideas with a totally different aesthetic and functional impact.But one thing is common to all installations, even the most disparate types: the importance of details. Do not forget how much value the details can bring to an internal staircase installation: each   railing staircase idea, a glass balustrade, special decorations but also modern handrails for internal stairs, different colors and finishes of the same materials.

Undoubtedly handrails for classical internal stairs, maybe simple in wood or baroque and worked in wrought iron, will give a totally different aesthetic result compared to modern railing for internal staircase essential steel, or an internal staircase railing with metal closed panels. In terms of vision, design, brightness but also in terms of costs, how effective can the railings for internal stairs be in a project, as well as a simple steel handrail for internal stairs or a handrail, for example, covered with very soft leather?

Colors, little tricks in the steps or about the railings or other ideas on how to decorate an internal staircase, even with little, give an idea of how much the details become a fundamental issue in some circumstances. They can modify, trivialize, improve or totally mismatch the outcome of an interior project. All this also applies to iron stairs for interiors, whatever the chosen structure and the anatomy of the same; the details such as the choice of railings or balustrades, finishes, harmonic combinations between materials etc create the perfect staircase for your interior.
